FarmFolk/CityFolk is a registered charitable organization working towards a sustainable, local food system. Please support our work by becoming a member, making a donation, signing up as a Perennial Supporter, purchasing our book, or buy tickets to Feast of Fields, our annual fundraisers. Tax receipts for donations are sent out after year-end, unless otherwise requested. We also have several opportunities for volunteers.

    Membership

    Membership in FarmFolk/CityFolk Society brings you the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting change towards sustainability and resilience. You will have the opportunity to make excellent contacts and develop your awareness of food systems. You will also receive our informative and enjoyable newsletter four times a year, as well as receive discounts for many of our events (including Feast of Fields), and privileged access to our resource library.     Donations

    Perennial Donations

    Please consider becoming a PERENNIAL DONOR. Your monthly support will help FarmFolk/CityFolk's core activities. Please note that there are 3 ways to contribute as a Perennial and should you ever wish to change the amount of your monthly donation or you need to cancel it, please call us and we’ll take care of it for you.     Donate to our Endowment Fund

    FarmFolk/CityFolk's Endowment Fund allows you to create a lasting legacy of your foresight and generosity to FarmFolk/CityFolk. The donation you make, whether during your lifetime or afterwards through a deferred arrangement such as a bequest, will be invested in perpetuity and will generate income for FarmFolk's work towards a sustainable food system. Vancity provides matching interest for funds of up to $15,000 for Named Funds. This allows you to double the impact of your donations. If you are interested in making a donation to our Endowment Fund, please contact us at 604-730-0450 (or email info@ffcf.bc.ca) or call toll-free from anywhere in BC 1-888-730-0452 and we will send you the appropriate forms. Tax receipts are issued for donations to FarmFolk/CityFolk's Endowment Fund.

    Newsletter Sponsorship

    Volunteers

    FarmFolk/CityFolk operates with a small staff and a wonderful pool of volunteers. Because we have limited staff resources to coordinate volunteers, we generally require a minimum of a 3 to 6 month commitment from potential volunteers. We also welcome long-term volunteers who are interested in becoming part of one of our Volunteer Teams. Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in applying for any of them, please complete our Volunteer Application (pdf) and email, fax or mail it back to us. If you are interested in volunteering for Feast of Fields (our annual fundraising events) please visit our Feast of Fields website and contact the appropriate coordinator.

    Join our Events Team! Help us set up, staff the welcome table, serve food, be bartender, help with security, clean up - there's lots to do! Give us a call and help make our events a success!

    Newsletter Articles
    Research and write an article for the current season’s newsletter. Good writing skills required. Please contact Michael for more information. michaelm@ffcf.bc.ca

    Position papers
    Research an issue and prepare a one page summary with sources. Good research and writing skills required. This can be done at your own location and completed within 1-2 months. If you have ideas to pitch please contact Jeff at jwnield@ffcf.bc.ca

    Long-term volunteer opportunities:

    Community Outreach Team
    FarmFolk/CityFolk’s Community Outreach Team is a group of volunteers who work together throughout the year to staff our FF/CF table at community events. FF/CF generally information tables at 6-10 events per year. Responsibilities include:
    i. keeping informed about current FF/CF activities, including projects, events, volunteer opportunities, and sales information (memberships, donations, perennial opportunities, books, event tickets, etc.)
    ii. if available, staffing FarmFolk/CityFolk community event tables with other volunteers from the Community Outreach Team.
    iii. reporting to the Community Outreach Team Leader.

    Newsletter Coordinator
    Our newsletter coordinator works with FarmFolk/CityFolk’s Michael Marrapese (Communications & Technology) to solicit newsletter articles and ensure they are completed and received on time. The coordinator is also responsible to proofread draft versions of the newsletter and make recommended changes to Michael. Minimum commitment: 1 year. (Note: we produce 4 newsletters per year.)
