Up We Grow!
A Year in the Life of a Small Local Farm.

“On a small farm not too far from the Vancouver, farmers are growing healthy, delicious food for you and me to eat. Crunchy carrots, sweet strawberries, juicy peaches! Mmm… What could be more delightful than eating fresh food, in season, from a small farm near you? Meet the farmers who carefully tend their crops and animals, while also caring for the health of their soil.” These are the delicious words found on the flyleaf of our new Kids Can Press children’s book.
FarmFolk CityFolk photographer Brian worked on this book for 16 months. A portion of the photographer’s royalties will be donated to FarmFolk CityFolk. Reading on, we are asked to “Follow our local BC famers through the seasons as they plow, plant, compost, mulch, harvest and market their fruits and vegetables. Watch their chickens and goats wander freely over the farmland. Learn how the farmers feed the soil and why bees are the farmer’s friends. Most importantly, find out how these farmers are caring for our future and helping us all to grow up strong and healthy!”
Farms photographically portrayed in UP WE GROW! include: UBC Farm, Glen Valley Organic Farm Cooperative, Klippers Organics Acres, Sapo Bravo Organics, and Golden Ears Community Farm.
